Bloomfield College and Montclair Art Museum

Bloomfield College and the Montclair Art Museum announce the inauguration of the Bloomfield Avenue Prize, a new annual prize offering the opportunity for an artist to execute an innovative public art project across the campuses of Bloomfield College (BC) and the Montclair Art Museum (MAM). It will represent the first collaboration between these neighboring institutions, located approximately two miles apart on Bloomfield Avenue in Northern New Jersey, about 35 minutes from New York City. The winning project will bridge the College, the Museum, and their greater constituencies: a vibrant community with a diverse cultural and socioeconomic makeup. The prize is $5,500.

Greenway Connection and Winter Light RFQ’s
Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy
(Boston, MA)

The Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy in downtown Boston, Massachusetts seeks artists’ and multi-disciplinary artist led teams’ qualifications. Up to three artists will be selected by year-end and awarded $5,500 stipends to develop proposals for a temporary, site specific art installation in 2015 that will physically and/or experientially unite the segmented parks and connect the communities along the Greenway. Project budget is $300,000. Additionally, up to three artists will be selected by year-end and awarded $5,500 stipends to develop proposals for a temporary, site-specific, light-based, winter art installation on the Greenway in 2014.

Bellagio Center arts & literary arts residencies are for composers, fiction and non-fiction writers, playwrights, poets, video/filmmakers, multi-media and visual artists seeking time for disciplined work, reflection, and collegial engagement, uninterrupted by the usual professional and personal demands. The Center typically offers one-month stays for three to five artists at a time, in a diverse community of resident fellows from fields that include the natural sciences, social scientists, as well as political and non-profit organization leaders.

Experience and Experimentation: An Investigation of Alternative Artistic Practices
University of Oregon, Department of the History of Art and Architecture

The University of Oregon is seeking proposals for papers for an upcoming symposium on alternative artistic practices. Possible subjects include, but are not limited to:The aesthetics of counterculture; Methods that privilege praxis over product; The blending of art and life; Creative investigation through aesthetic experience;  Upsetting of the conventional subject/object relationship; The dynamics of identity, of both the individual and the group; Aesthetics encounters Aesthetic reactions; Relational Aesthetics. Potential participants should submit a 250-word abstract and current curriculum vitae. Selected presenters will be notified by January 30, 2013 and will be asked to submit a completed draft of the paper by April 1, 2013.
