Connector is a new Port of San Diego public art project designed to encourage artistic investigation of Port tidelands in the development of a temporary large-scale artwork that will travel to locations on tidelands in San Diego, National City, Coronado, Chula Vista and Imperial Beach. The selected artist or artist team will create a dynamic, transportable artwork that transforms five unassuming spaces on tidelands in an imaginative and unexpected way. The project budget for art is $250,000.

The Unsolicited Proposal program is an opportunity for anyone, from anywhere, to submit an exhibition proposal to apexart. For one month beginning January 15, 2013, the Unsolicited Proposal Program will accept 500-word submissions for group shows that examine an idea or theme. Exhibitions can be about anything that the organizer finds compelling — successful shows have been mounted about everything from television to mapping to literature. No prior curatorial experience is required and we invite submissions from people of all backgrounds.

The Rosemary Duffy Larson Gallery of the Broward College is currently seeking proposals for the 2014/15 Exhibition Seasons. Group Exhibitions and curatorial proposals are welcomed as well as solo exhibition proposals. The following should be submitted via email to Harumi Abe:

  • Resume or C.V. include artist website address if available.
  • Detailed proposal of the exhibit.
  • Artist statement
  • Art work samples, using the following specifications.
  • 15-20 digital images Save images as a JPEG. The image should be 72 dpi, 1024 x 768 pixel maxim.
  •  Up to 5 minutes of time based work with a description of no more than one page in printed and digital format
  • contextualizing the work.
  • Art work identification which include title of work, medium, dimensions or duration and date

Supported in part by a grant from The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, the CIR program provides an opportunity for emerging local and national curatorial talent to develop and expand the scope of their practice through a one-year residency.
