Food: Friend or Foe

Target Gallery is accepting submissions for consideration in its upcoming juried exhibition, “Food: Friend or Foe.” It is an all-media exhibition featuring work that examines the complex relationship that we have with food – whether it be a personal examination of food and our bodies, or one with a more political focus such as food production and distribution. It is open to all artists nationally and internationally.

The Branigan Cultural Center is accepting proposals for solo and groups exhibitions to be presented in 2014. Artists and scholars living and working in the southwest or working with themes of cultural significance are eligible to submit.

Design Competition: Crisis as Calling
(Brooklyn, NY)

REVERSE and Designcircuit present “Crisis as Calling,” an international competition that invites participants to submit design-based, innovative solutions to issues or conditions caused by Crisis. Crisis implies a breakdown, and the collective response is typified by the attempt to return to “normal.” Typically, Crisis inspires responsive design, or design-based solutions that restore the post-Crisis conditions to their pre-Crisis state. The competition seeks to explore uncharted courses to reveal innovative models for engagement, action and implementation in the community.

Call for Proposals: Season of Sculpture Festival
Sculpture Space
(Utica, NY)

Sculpture Space, Inc. in partnership with Griffiss Park Landowners Association (GPLA) with funding from the New York State Council for the Arts (NYSCA) and the Mohawk Valley Regional Economic Development Council (MVREDC) is  accepting submissions for the Season of Sculpture Festival. They seek to commission an artist or artists’ team for a site-specific artwork.
From this RFQ, finalist selections will be made and proposals solicited.

2014 Sunroom Project Space
Wave Hill
(Bronx, NY)

Wave Hill announces a call to artists for its 2014 Sunroom Project Space Program.  The Sunroom Project Space is a venue for New York-area emerging artists to create site-specific work or a special project to be exhibited in a six-week solo show in one of the two windowed sunrooms in Glyndor Gallery. Five artists will be selected for 2014. Work in all media will be considered and artists are encouraged to experiment with the parameters of traditional display and exhibition formats. The selected artists will be awarded an honorarium of $1,500 and will have between six and 12 months to develop their ideas and to create new work for the project space.
