Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center
(Brooklyn, NY)

Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center is currently accepting submissions for the 2013-14 exhibition program at the Brooklyn Infusion Center, centrally located at 557 Atlantic Avenue. BIC is focused on delivering chemotherapy to New York-area patients in an innovative and art-filled environment. To facilitate this goal, local artists are invited to submit proposals each year for a site-specific installation; four artists will be selected to realize their vision in our storefront gallery space for 3 months of the following exhibition schedule, starting in September 2013. A maximum of 2 weeks will be allotted to each artist to install his or her project and each artist will be awarded a $2000 stipend. Additionally, they welcome submissions of work to be displayed in the adjacent clinical areas.  Works on view in the clinical areas must be framed and/or ready to install. The theme for the upcoming 2013-14 exhibition cycle is Roots: Drawing Connections Through Community. BIC invites the community of artists  in Brooklyn and the greater New York-area to submit proposals that reflect on the notion of collective, community roots through the use of line.

Proposals should either be marked as INSTALLATION PROPOSAL or ARTWORK PROPOSAL to indicate whether you are submitting a plan for a site-specific installation or two -dimensional work to be exhibited in the adjacent clinical area. Artists may submit work for both areas. Please email proposals to Holly Shen Chaves.
