Call for Proposals: Marking Time
Zuckerman Museum of Art
(Kennesaw, GA)

The Zuckerman Museum of Art is soliciting proposals for visual solutions to sharing their institutional progress and ongoing history. The successful proposal can be in any medium and should involve a method that transcends, symbolizes, or challenges standard forms of museum documentation. Applicants should submit a letter of interest outlining initial ideas (not to exceed 500 words) and a CV listing any relevant experience. The letter of interest should note your field of specialization and how that might impact your proposal. Detailed proposals are not necessary at this stage; a small group of finalists will be invited to develop and present their ideas in more detail. An honorarium of $250 each will be offered for the initial development of detailed proposals. Beam Summer Camp

Beam Summer Camp is seeking proposals for 2014. Every year Beam commissions unique, large-scale collaborative projects that serve as centerpieces of each Beam session. Projects should be of a scale that is large enough to busy 108 campers supervised by 20+ adults for approximately fifty hours. Projects should take advantage of Beam’s outdoor space and rural location, but they need not be about camp, children, or nature. Beam Camp will allocate $10,000 for the development, prototyping and execution of Beam Projects, and will pay the Project Master a stipend of $2500.

Summer Long Interactive Sculptures

The FIGMENT Summer-Long Sculpture Program is calling artists to submit proposals for the 2014 season. The Sculpture Program has taken place on Governors Island for the past five years and has had approximately 100,000 visitors each season. In 2014, FIGMENT plans to select  three to five large-scale interactive sculptures that can potentially be reconstructed and relocated after the summer to other venues. They expect to to offer each piece a $3,000-$5,000 budget, and will collaborate with the artists on fundraising efforts if additional money is needed.

Smack Mellon is accepting applications for its artist studio program. Smack Mellon offers free studio space to eligible artists for an eleven-month period. The program provides 6 artists working in all visual arts media a free private studio space and a $5000 fellowship (dependent upon funding). The program does not provide living space. Artists also have access to shared facilities that include: a state-of-the-art digital production lab, including a set of 27″ iMac workstations professionally configured for video and graphics editing, calibrated video monitors, a 3D-capable HD projector, surround-sound monitor speakers, flatbed scanners, a wide-format photo printer, a color laser printer and wireless internet access; and a shared kitchen/lounge area.
