They seek video installation projects, with a maximum installation size of 8 x 10 ft. Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center is pleased to announce a call for artwork submissions for ArtSpace 64’s upcoming art exhibition opening in March 2014. This curated exhibition will focus on works reflecting the theme of nature. Any work that relates to this theme will be considered, regardless of medium. Submissions should include images and details (medium, support, dimensions, and date) of the works for consideration, website, résumé or CV, and a current phone number. The New York City Department of Parks and Recreation is accepting proposals from New York City-based emerging artists for the Clare Weiss Emerging Artist Award. The Clare Weiss Emerging Artist Award is granted annually to one emerging artist who submits the most compelling proposal for an outdoor sculpture in a New York City park. The location changes annually and is determined based on the site’s visibility and proximity within a neighborhood underserved by public art. This year’s site is the Sara D. Roosevelt Park, located in Manhattan’s Lower East Side. The chosen recipient will be granted an award in the amount of $10,000. The recipient is highly encouraged to procure in-kind support and other additional funding necessary to support this installation.

The Center for New Art, the University Galleries, and the Undergraduate Art Department at William Paterson University request applications for an Artist in Residence and Exhibition Program. The successful recipient will receive access to their production facility and an honorarium of $5,000 plus a $3,000 budget for materials. Work produced during the residency will be exhibited at the University Galleries. The exhibition will be accompanied by a modest publication. The program will be funded in the academic year Fall 2014 – Spring 2015 by the National Endowment for the Arts’ Art Works grant.

Haystack’s Open Studio Residency is a new program that provides two weeks of studio time and an opportunity to work in a supportive community of makers. The program accommodates approximately fifty participants—from the craft field and other creative disciplines—who will have uninterrupted time to work in six studios (ceramics, fiber, graphics, iron, jewelry, and wood) to develop ideas and experiment in various media. PlatteForum is accepting applications for its Creative Residency program which encourages artists to think about their work as social practice, and extend their process by connecting to a community. The Creative Residency program is open to artists in all genres. Applications from established professional artists, emerging artists, and graduate students are welcome. Resident artists dedicate 4-6 hours each week (plus planning time as needed) to work with one small group of underserved youth, K-12, in intensive workshops (Learning Labs) that build upon the ideas and forms of the Creative Resident. PlatteForum staff supports the artist in the organization and facilitation of the youth workshops. Each residency culminates in a public reception where the work and ideas of the Creative Resident and the youth are presented in a performance, exhibition or artist talk, seminar, appropriate for the artist and their work. PlatteForum provides facility, stipend ($250/week) to help defray artist expenses, staff support, program administration, workshop support, youth workshop supplies, opening event, press releases, printed invitations.

The Center for Emerging Visual Artists (CFEVA), in partnership with NewCourtland, is pleased to offer Philadelphia area artists the opportunity to participate in an exciting, community-based fellowship. Through the NewCourtland Artist Fellowship, visual artists will be selected to bring innovative and engaging art-making to seniors in sites throughout Philadelphia. In order to apply, artists are asked to develop an intergenerational project that brings members of NewCourtland together with school age children/teens to create a meaningful experience and a high quality artistic project. Work created by seniors and their school-aged partners during the 2014 Fellowship Program will be exhibited with the work of the artist fellows in a large, well publicized exhibition entitled “Art is Ageless 2015.” Selected artists will receive an award of $2500, plus compensation for materials and supplies.

Tending Space: Contemplative Fellowships for Artists

Tending Space Fellowships are open to visual and performing artists and writers. Fellows will receive financial support for both contemplation and creation. Application is open to those who are deeply engaged with, and have a demonstrable commitment to, an art form and who also have an interest in beginning or deepening a spiritual practice. Compensation will be provided to 10 fellows for a residential meditation retreat, an art retreat or workshop, a meditation mentor, an art mentor and a stipend for a two-week work period where fellows can focus wholly on their art. Tending Space Fellows will be supported by fellowships starting at $4,500 (the exact amount will be determined by the cost of each project, not to exceed $8,300).
