The University of Oregon and Oregon Arts Commission seek artists interested in conversation and collaboration with a leading-edge integrative science community. Drawing on cross disciplinary awareness, Third Culture Projects will bring artists into conversation with the Lewis Integrative Science community for mutual inquiry and advancement. The first phase of this project, Third Culture Conversations, will be held during a three-day gathering May 28-30, 2014, on the campus of the University of Oregon in Eugene. 20 invited artists will join members of the LISB community for informal conversations and presentations, which will be documented and published in convening notes distributed electronically and in print.

Union Congregational Church located in Montclair, NJ is soliciting artists for a commissioned sculpture that will reside in their Centennial Garden. The Centennial Garden is an outdoor garden space where congregants can elect for their ashes to be interred upon their passing. Due to the nature and purpose of the space, the artwork should evoke a respectful and peaceful emotion from the viewers. The projected budget for the sculpture including installation is $10,000.00. Once accepted, the completed work should be available for installation no later than August 31, 2014. Images of art work may be submitted in the form of JPGs or a URL. The BRIC House Fireworks Residency is designed to bring together teams of individual artists of different disciplines who share a vision, and provide them with technical and financial resources to facilitate the collaborative development of creative projects that cross or erase artistic boundaries. Two projects will be selected. The first will be in residence at BRIC House (Brooklyn, NY) in December 2014/January 2015 and will receive a $15,000 commission. The second project will be in residence December 2015/January 2016 and will receive a $30,000 commission. Projects must include two of BRIC’s three disciplines: Performing Arts, Contemporary Art, Media. Artist teams must include at least one person with a Brooklyn affiliation (lives in, works in, born in the borough).
