CALLS FOR SUBMISSION

In Practice
SculptureCenter
(Long Island City, New York)

SculptureCenter is accepting proposals for its “In Practice” program. They invite artists to submit proposals for new projects and installations to be presented beginning in January of 2013. Artists selected for the In Practice program will receive a $500 honoraria and up to $1500 in production support. The level of production support will depend on the scope of accepted works and available funding.

EMN8 is seeking artwork, articles, stories, and featured projects related to the following: physical interactive experiences, data visualization, projects using screen based materials in conjunction with non screen based elements, new and exciting projects (screen based and not), interviews with commercially, artistically, or academically successful project developers / leads, encounters and experiences with great examples of intriguing new media, and sneak peeks at upcoming projects. EMN8 is a new online publication focused on bringing together artists, designers, programmers, developers, scientists, and students in the name and interest of New Media. The goal is to provide worthwhile content well beyond that of the standard tutorial or quickie article.

Faena Art Center announces an open call to artists across the world that offers US$25,000 in prize money and US$50,000 to finance the production of a site-specific project. The project will be exhibited at the Faena Arts Center in mid-2013. In addition, two special mentions will go to two other projects with a prize amount of US$500 each.

MIA is a brand new series screening the work of artists using the moving image, including experimental film, video art, installation art, performance art, essay films and animation. The MIA screening series is curated by artist Alanna Simone, presenting new work every 4th Friday at the Armory Center for the Arts in Pasadena, CA. Submissions are accepted on a revolving basis and there is no entry fee.

Dieu Donné is now accepting applications for its Workspace Program Residency. The Workspace Program provides annual residencies to New York State artists to create new work in handmade paper. Residence Scholarships
Künstlerhaus Schloss Balmoral
(Bad Ems, GERMANY)

Künstlerhaus Schloss Balmoral is accepting applications for its artists’ residence program. Two three-month awards, and seven six-month awards are available. The scholarships are endowed with 1,200 € a month. The scholarship holders dispose of a furnished living/bedroom with shower/WC and a studio including electricity, water and heating. Each apartment is equipped with an individual telephone and internet access. If required, the room is also wired up for radio and television. Scholarship holders also have access to studio facilities, including a woodshop, video lab, and library.
